Not sure if this will work, and seeing as I never took an electronics class I'm asking here. On my vantec fan controller there are 5 blue 3mm led's wired to the controller board. Here is a pic of what I want to do. Hope it's clear enough. I want to add a switch to be able to turn the led's off.

If you do it that way, you have to make sure that the switch can handle the total amount of watts (and volts) that going through it. So add up all the leds watts and then make sure that the switch you want to use can support that. Other than that I am not seeing why you cant (but then again I could be wrong).

JEEVES

If all the LEDs are either going to be on or off at one time, then it'll work, but if it's fore something where 1 led will be on when 4 others are off, then it won't (Like a bargraph display).

I just want them all on or all off. I can deal with them on just think it would be kind of cool to have the option to turn them off :)

In that case, it'll work! Make sure that the amperage rating of the switch you get is at *least* the amperage of all of the LEDs added togethor (Remember, 1 milliamp = .001 amps, so 20 milliamps (average LED) is .02 amps). But most switches can handle the LEDs perfectly fine (Your looking at probably about .1 amps, and most switches are rated at 5 amps). Heck, an alternate action vandal switch would look sweet for this job :)
