I recently upgraded to a GTX 285 from an 8800GT and for the past 2 days my ppd has been roughly 2k-3k LESS than what I was getting on my 8800gt. The log files for the GPU client report no errors. Core is 694, shader clock at 1620, and memory at 1296. Any ideas?
 
using the gpu2 client? did you unistall and reinstall the new client?
 
Have you checked CPU usage? are you running anything that might be starving the GPU client of cpu cycles? Are you running a screen saver that could be using the GPU?
Did you install current nVidia drivers when you installed the new card?
What program are you using to measure your PPD?

What OS of you running?
 
Running window xp 32bit on a Q6700. 4 instances of F@H as a service on the quad. The only thing that changed is the video card. Before installing it, I removed the nvidia drivers and removed the gpu client. Installed the new card and reinstalled the newest drivers and reinstalled the gpu client. Using FahMon for monitoring which says i should be getting 7-9k from the gpu alone.
 
are you trying to compare the PPD shown in FAHmon to what you are seeing on the various stats pages or is it 2-3k less then before in FAHmon? just the way your last post is writen makes me believe you are basing it off one the stats sites.. which what you see in FAHmon isnt what you will see on the stats pages.. generally what you see on the stats pages will be anywhere from 3k-5k less then FAHmon(or any monitoring program) due to the differences between the points each WU is worth.. and how much time they take..


but if the numbers are all within FAHmon then you might want to check to see if the cards getting stuck in 2d mode and not going into 3d mode when the gpu clients running..
 
Check GPU-Z or something similar to make sure it's running at full clock speeds. It might possibly be running in 2D mode.
 
Stop the instance of FAH running on core 3 and see if your PPD from the GPU comes back. If I set up an SMP client that took cores 6 and 7 on my i7 it would kill the production of the 2 GPU clients I was running (280 GTX x 2). Or try setting the priority of the client running on that core (the GPU client grabs core 3 on a quad and core 6 or 7 on a i7) to low and see if that brings your production back. There's tools for setting afinity and priority, but I haven't dabbled in them yet.
 
Common reasons for GPU running slow.

Dissimmilar cards installed
Not giving the GPU enough breathing room on the CPU - easy fix is setting priorities properly.
Motherboard locking the GPU in 2D only mode. (only seen with multiple 200 series NV cards in a NV mobo.
 
Ok gonna try to disable core 3 today and see if it comes back. Is this perhaps a problem related to XP that would be easily solved by going to Vista and running the smp client or notfred's vm?

It's not a OS problem. I think your GPU is starved. Shutting down a client will give it beathing room.
