I have a Gateway GT5082 desktop of my wifes and I have a extra 8800 GTS laying around and was goin to put it in her desktop. Now my first question is it has a 300 watt power supply in it and I dont think it will be big enough to hold it but someone else told me it would. The pc just has a dual core amd processor, has bout 1.5 of ram running at 400 mhz. and one optical and one HDD. Now I dont think the 300 will hold it but I was just wanting to verify. Now my 2nd question is if it cant will any aftermarket power supply fit in there or will I have to find one that will go. Because actually I think I will have to find another power supply cause I dont think the one in it has a pci-express connector. Thanks guys.

It might work but it would be risky. You could use molex adapters for the power. It looks like it will fit in the case but if you already have the card I assume the answer is yes it fits.

to upgrade the psu any of these will work.

Corsiar 450
bfg 450
ocz 500

A high quality 300W PSU might be able to pull it off. But considering that it's a OEM system, more than likely it is not a decent let alone high quality PSU. So yeah you would need a new PSU.

I recommend this PSU:
Corsair 400CX 400W PSU - $55
