Need some help with GPU scaling and AMD CCC

I recently had a 3 monitor setup with 2 old 4:3 1703 FPs around one Dell u2412 (16x10)

I set catalyst control center to maintain aspect ratio in the gpu scaling settings and it worked fine, when opening SC2 it would put black bars on the top and bottom and display it in 1920x1080 as if I were on a 16x9 monitor, then go back to 1920x1200 when I exited the game. I have since replaced the u2412 and the 1703fp's with 3 Dell u2415s (all 16x10)

I assumed the scaling would work the same but I have been going a little crazy for the last few hours trying to get it to work. I uninstalled then reinstalled the latest version of AMD CCC. This version allows you to select enable GPU scaling then maintain aspect ratio. Well the problem is, it doesn't work. When I select the main display and check 'maintain aspect ratio' then run SC2 in 1920x1080, it keeps filling the screen.

CCC also seems to mess with windows in terms of the order of the displays etc, and other screwy things like not allowing me to uncheck enable GPU scaling on one of the monitors. For now, in the 'My Digital Flat Panels>Properties I have selected each monitor and checked 'enable gpu scaling' then checked 'scale image to full panel size' for the right and left monitors, but checked 'maintain aspect ratio' for the center monitor but still no dice. I have tried other combinations of these selections to no avail.

Anyway my question is, does the Dell u2415 not have the ability to scale like this, or is this always a function of my GPU? Anyone else experience a similar issue? All I want to do is have the main (center) monitor scale to 1920x1080 when I play SC2 or other game that looks better in 16X9.

Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Another piece of information.

The monitor connected via HDMI will center the image if I set the resolution to 1920x1080 even though scaling is off on that monitor. I changed the HDMI cable to a different monitor and had the same issue. Then I swapped the HDMI for a DVI to HDMI cable with the same result.

Infuriating.

Edit: Fixed that issue but original issue still persists.

Well some encouraging news.

Through hours of experimenting I think I have finally fixed the issue. Maybe this will help someone else in the same boat. What finally did it was using guru3ds display driver uninstaller, removing all registry instances with ccleaner, reverting to an older version of CCC (14.4) and swapping out the HDMI cable for a DVI to HDMI.

For now, scaling is working. If I put the desktop into 1920x1080 it will give me the black bars on top and bottom, likewise when playing SC2 in 1920x1080. With this issue resolved I figure for the extra ~$130 I spent on these panels over the u2414 I might as well keep these as I can use the 16x10 res while browsing etc but still have the ability to put it into the native res of the u2414 if I want to now that scaling is working.

One thing is for sure though, I will try to avoid using HDMI to HDMI for PC monitors as long as I can.

Hi I have now exactly the same issue. A have a native 16:10 monitor, but I would like to play sc2 in 16:9 without stretching, with black bars on top and bottom.
I have AMD Radeon HD 5670 video card.
It was working well for me previously with an old driver (I don't know which version was it). But I had other graphical issues, so I refreshed my driver together with CCC. And now it stretch the picture to 16:10 when I switch to 1920×1080.
I tried everything that you wrote in your last post (guru3D, ccleaner, CCC 14.4, DVI to HDMI cable), but the problem still exists. But it is really strange. The maintain aspect ratio working for almost all of the possible non-native resolution EXCEPT for 1280×720, 1776×1000, 1920×1080. These three 16:9 displays are stretched to 16:10, meanwhile the 1360×768, 1366×768 and 1600×900 displays remain in 16:9. I don't understand why only the above mentioned three resolutions don't work with maintain aspect ratio?
Any guess?
