Alright, I just migrated my parents' PC over to an Alienware Alpha because we're trying to minimize space and I had it already so I figured why not. As I was hooking everything up I totally overlooked one stupid oversight - it doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack. :eek:

They currently have a Sennheiser HD 419 so I was thinking I could go with:

  1. USB → 3.5mm adapter (not sure how good these are)
  2. Digital to analog converter (something like this)
  3. USB DAC (already limited on USB ports)

Or just buy some bluetooth headphones.

USB and optical are both digital ports. 3.5mm is analog, therefore all three of your options are just different DACs.
 
A USB solution makes the most sense, IMO.

Behringer UCA202 maybe? This thing was supposed to be pretty good according to tests done by the designer (NwAvGuy) of the O2 DAC/amp. It's $25 for now.

Creative or Asus alternatives? They have a few options under $60 if you don't want to go for something like that SMSL option above.
Edit: forgot that this uca202 model needed a mod to lower the headphone amp output impedance. The other outputs are fine.
