I'll try to best explain what has been going on and hoping someone could offer some insight into it...

I got my GTX Titan about three weeks ago and have gotten some crashes wif it in certain games at the start, I was told to clean my drivers and etc after upgrading from a GTX 580..

I also checked the power on the 12 volt line in bios and it was fine, I do overclock my cpu and have an overclock on the Titan wif the boost.

I lowered the overclock on the Titan thinking it was causing problems, however recently I started to boot my system up and would get "NO VIDEO" from the graphics card until I would pull the plug or keep rebooting several times till it finally kicked in.

I wasn't sure it was the video card at first until it happened today, when it wouldn't post or show video, I plugged in an hdmi cable to my motherboard and I got video and booted into windows afterwards just fine.

I used integrated graphics to boot into it, I talked to EVGA and got the go ahead to submit an RMA for the card, just for fun ... I took the cable out of the motherboard and rebooted my computer again and the video card works again!!!

I think the card has been kind of flaky from the start, do you think I should just get a new video card or is it something else causing problems?

Intel 2600k overclocked to 4.3 ghz
Asus Sabertooth Z77
EVGA GTX Titan
4 x 4gb G-skill memory
Corsair AX1200 PSU

Thanks guys!

So how is your Titan connected to your monitor? DVI, HDMI, DP?
What resolution do you use?
Do you have the latest GPU drivers from NVidia?
Do you have the latest motherboard chipset/graphics drivers?
Do you have the latest MB BIOS version?

I'm not familiar with your MB but can you disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS?

If those simple things don't remedy your problem, a RMA on the Titan would be the correct action.

My Titan is connected to dual monitors wif DVI and I use a resolution of 1920x1080 on one and 1920x1200 on the other...

I do have the latest official drivers from NVIDIA and not the beta ones, 314.09....

I do have the latest motherboard bios and chipset for my board 1805...

I can disable the onboard graphics, but like I said my titan came back but would not boot this morning... it has done this before too... I just had the idea of plugging an hdmi cable into my motherboard to see if it could bypass the titan and it booted up fine...

I took the cable out today and tested my titan again and it came back, let me boot wif the video card... I'm just wondering if I should just RMA it and get a new one instead of hoping its fixed since it did it before.. was wondering if anyone experienced this before and if it was the card or not..

My system never needed to have the onboard graphics disabled so its weird... I could try that tho

To be honest, if EVGA is giving you the go-ahead for an RMA I would just take it and be done with it.

In the BIOS there should be an option to choose the primary display adaptor at boot. Make sure it's set to pcie. Didn't see it mentioned so ruling it out couldn't hurt.

+1:D

Also, in the NVidia control panel, you need to choose the primary monitor.
If you have more than one monitor in play, you need to tell the card which monitor is activated at boot up.

I think this is most likely your problem.

Go into the NVidia control panel under monitors to sort that out.
Another easy trial would be to simply unplug the secondary monitor for the time being and see if the GPU displays appropriately.

When you boot up does the POST screen show up at all? It should regardless of what GPU you are using.

As the other guy said....make sure in your BIOS the NVidia GPU is the primary boot monitor (PCI-e) instead of the integrated GPU.

Did that just now, it worked wifout before... but I was hoping someone would have had the same problem... I might just rma the card and get a different one... since I had the advanced RMA... I was hoping I didn't have to.

+1 Do it :D

Please.......wtf ......WITH.......reading that other 'wif" makes my head hurt and brings up images of someone standing on the tee box and "whiffing" their drive attempt.

Some reddit grammar Nazis must also be computer enthusiasts. :D
Glad they're here to save the day!

Yup.

I might be a computer enthusiast, but I also prefer to "speak" proper English.
It's either laziness or ignorance or a combination of both not to.

Or maybe you're a "rapper" so that's how you do it....? who knows.:D

No no no no just spending alot of time talking and chatting online picks up some habits, I know its not the proper english but kind of picked it up from a girl I been talking to and kind of stuck wif me :p

Did you put your cpu back to stock clocks to make sure your OC didn't become unstable?

Yeah I've set up the card as the primary in the control panel and changed the bios around, I'm pretty sure I did that before and it still gave me the occasional black screen at post, it happened twice so far... but no nothing at all at the post screen...

The system will boot and go through everything else just the video wont show... my OC has been stable for awhile now so not sure if that could interfere.. I get no video signal at all sometimes but it worked on the integrated graphics.

The "girl' is probably a grizzled 60 year old who never comes out of his basement......

or a 12 year-old.

just to be sure its not a power issue, I would check the voltage wif a meter , I would not trust a BIOS reading ....if it checks out, since EVGA is OK wif an RMA, I would send it in and let them exchange it wif another one

I was referring to Family Guy. And you didn't know it... You're dead to me.

That IS a commercial for cool whip......featuring the Family Guy characters......I am not dead. (they also use it for wheat thins):D

And you're back! Alive and well! Haha! I don't have TV so I never get to see commercials or anything for that matter that isn't on Hulu or Netflix...
