And they have a few questions. I am pretty busy, theyre on a time constraint, and Im hoping you guys can help more effectively and quickly than I can. Anyhow. They need something with 2000lumens minimum, under $1k, and are going to be using either a 60x60 or 70x70" screen. I dont know what resoltuion will be needed for this, so advice on that is good. They are also thinking about setting it up in the living room for movies and such, so they want to know if an LCD or DLP projector will be better (I thought DLP was just a chip and could be used on LCDs?) I would like to stick with something with a good contrast ratio (ive seen ones with 300:1, WTH?) so keep that in mind. It will be primarily used for presentations at seminars (powerpoint I think) with a secondary function of TV.

Thanks!!

good place to go for research and loads of reviews is http://www.projectorcentral.com and a great vendor for trust and prices is http://www.visualapex.com (<< at least for me, I loved there service)

I have a Sanyo Z3 HD 720p LCD Projector. The new Z4 is out and is around 1500 dollars. I recommend it. I know its above the price range, but sometimes you get what you pay for and price vs performance the Sanyo is a great deal.

Also remember with projectors you have to change the bulb eventually and they run anywhere from a couple hundred dollars and up.

This is what they were looking at. We really cant go out of budget, they are VERY tight for money. Obvoiusly, the lower the better. I told them they wouldnt be getting HD or any widescreen, but at this point, it doesnt matter. When we have the money to get something nice for theliving room, we will.

edit: WOW, that one WILL do 720p. awesome.
