Need some help on pump-placement

I am currently in the process of buidling my first watercooled rig (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=962105). I got all the parts and everything sorted out, but right now I am having some difficulties deciding where to put the pump.
Here are my suggestions so far:

_Solution 1:
This solution will have the pump's outlet almost directly over the intake of the radiator, which is good. It will, however, require the tubing right in front of the intake of the pump to bend quite tightly, which might result in a kink. Thats a bad thing.
Take a look at the pics and you'll get the picture:

The reservoir has not arrived yet, which sucks, but I'm going to put it below the DVD drive, and the outlet ports of the res are at the bottom rear.

An illustration to make it more clear. The blue rectangle below the DVD drive is "the reservoir" with the nipple sticking out at the bottom. Then there is the light blue "tubing":

Im planning on using 1/2" ID tubing between the radiator and the pump. Do you think the bends between the rad and the pump may be too tight?

_Solution 2:
This solution will have little bends in front of the pump's intake, which is good. It will however require quite a bit of bending between the rad and the pump's outlet. That's a bad thing.

_Solution 3:
Here are some "simulation" pics. Ignore the excess tubing, just imagine the tubing going on to the nipples of the radiator (which aren't really there):

The disadvantage of this setup is that I'll have the tubing running all around over the fans in the lower department. It's not really a big deal, it just does'nt look as tidy as the two previous setups. The advantage of this setup however, is that there will be minimal tight bends before and after the pump, flow restriction should be minimal.

I like option 2 , as you can run a second pump right next to it if need be(for a second loop


I used the mag pumps, here is what i did with them


2 pumps above the PSU and a 2x80mm radiator to cool the hard drives.

I would try 7/16" ID tubing, it bends easier. To me it looks like the second one might be the best, except I would have the pump outlet going to the radiator inlet closest to the camera(not furthest away) it should allow for the tubing to make it without kinking.

I dont think I'll ever need a second pump in this system.

I am actually using 7/16" tubing in the entire system, but when I tried using it in the lower department I got kinks easier than with the 1/2"
 
Erasmus, after doing some more testing, I realise that connecting the pump to the nipple on the rad that you suggested solves all my problems. The tubing will have to run on the side of the fans/rad a little bit and its going to go down up and down again but at least I wont have any kinks.

The 7/16" tubing has better bend radius but it kinks very easely right very it comes off the 1/2" nipple. The 1/2" tubing does not do that.

And eumskickin, where did you get those blukheads?

the bulkheads are for 3/8" ID 1/2" OD so they won't work if your usin 7/16"
Some one may make 7/16 compression fitting bulkheads out there (or you can make your own if your handy and have a lathe .. and about 30 minutes to make each one )
 
some advice, I would put the fans underneath your rad so its pulling instead of pushing some neoprene cut outs would deaden the sound
