Need some CPu upgrade advice

Hi

I feel like my system needs a refresh

I've been running an OC venice s939 2.0 ghz at 2.67 ghz for 18 months now

I would like to go to the intel yorkfield platform but that is a year away

I don't feel that my current system will last another 12 months and still enable me to get decent gaming

I have also just upgraded my gfx card to an ati x1950xt

The idea being that in 12 months time I can refresh my CPU, Ram, mboard and add DX10 gfx

I am thinking about ferreting out a 3800 X2 to give me decent bang per buck.

Do you guys think this is worthwhile? How does this CPU overclock? I have decent Zalman copper HSF...

basically i would put myself as a 'power user' but not an ultra hardcore gamer that needs sli

also considering an x2 4200 - how do these overclock?

I'm seriously considering the opteron 175 now. even it it overclocks identical to my venice it should be a bit better overall due to more cache and dual core (and hopefully less voltage needed)

err the 175 is a little more and the 170 is everything that the 175 is... if you are OCing get a 165 or 170 they have the most chance at hitting 3.0ghz

$60 more than the 170... damn get 2 165s for the same price and see which one OCs better and sell the other one...

i know 2 165s are like $300 but still. get the 170 if you want the x10 multi otherwise do like the rest and get a 165 and OC the hell out of it...

my opteron 165 got a 167% overclock... for $155 that is a-frickin-mazing
