Well I'm upgrading my CPU, RAM and Mobo I really didn't want to but my cpu has gradually gotten worse after my house got hit by lightning multiple times in a couple weeks 6 months ago. So I am of course on a budget since this wasn't an intended upgrade I had plans to go new video card route but a CPU overheating for no reasons and reports of bad ram and mobo freaking out sort of make it a higher priority. Specially when you have one of the unlocked Athlon XP 2500+'s that ran 3200+ on stock voltage and what not back in the day. As for suggesting trying to figure out what is wrong with it I've tried everything replacing the heatsink rediong thermal paste and everyhting. I've even moved the CPU onto another system and it still ran super hot. 65 Celcius idle is ridiculous and running close to 80 under heavy load adds to the problem.

Now onto what I need advice on the following upgrade

AMD® Athlon™ 64 - 3000 (Winchester)
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, Socket 939, nVIDIA® nForce3 Ultra Chipset
OCZ 512Mb PC4000 DDR Enhanced Latency Dual Channel Series (2 x 256Mb)

I'm hoping to get a good overclock out of this and thats why I'm going with the PC4000 ram with the higher timings. Hoping that I can reach the mighty 250mhz fsb but it wont be much of a let down if it doesn't. So I'm wondering if these are indeed the right choices I've read that the mobo is probably the best for OCing and the ram I'm not really sure about but I can get it pretty cheap. The CPU is the cheapest 90nm AMD processor on the market so I figured it's the best choice since I've heard great things about it.
 
A UPS is highly recommended. I would suggest something from the CyberPower series. I believe the 525SL, 725SL or the 625AVR should fit the budget I am guestimating you are on. Try to find one locally as shipping can be quite expensive due to weight. From customer feedback and personal experience (I own the CyberPower 1500AVR), these have been quite reliable. 0% return rate.
