at the moment i have a Amd 3200+ with 1.5g pc3200 Ram and x800GTO video card

Im planning on upgrading to a X2

was wondering if anyone could Pair a motherboard/cpu combo for 300 or less(little over 300 is okay)

and i will be upgrading to one of the 8600 DX10 cards when they are released and i dont want my Cpu to bottleneck my videocard

Thank you im a noob when it comes to these things and just wanted another persons opinion

If you where thinking on buying a socket AM2 you'll need new RAM also.
In that case I would certainly go for a Core 2 Duo. They are simply way better than X2.

I found a Intel Core2 Duo E4300 (1.86) 2048KB Socket 775 for 165€ at http://tones.be where I buy all my stuff. That's about 200$.
AMD X2's are not much cheaper and the cheap ones have only 1MB cache.

If you don't wanna spend too much, you could try finding an older socket939. Than you don't have to buy a new MB and RAM.

Why not just get the 3600x2 at Newegg now for $95. Pair it up with a decent AM2 motherboard and you got yourself a little system that can prbably get over 3.0ghz on air.

Granted, you'll have to purchase some expensive DDR2, but you might be able to manage it!

Good Luck

Don't mean to thread jack but what RAM would you pair with the 3600+ combo I'm thinking of going that route also a good HSF?

i figured i mind as well just ask this here rather than start a new thread.

i'm going to be getting the amd 3600 with the tforce 550 mobo. i want to get 2x512mb ram to go with it but i dont know what kind. i have been looking at ocz gold and ocz plat., but there are still way too many to chose from.

and what should i look for in a SATA hd?

it seems like a lot of us have been out of the loop for a long time, our 2400+ desktops and centrino laptops are getting old!

its a socket s939 mobo from Emachines(t6212, i would like to upgrade the Cpu and mobo, im considering an Am2 Mobo/ram/cpu

How does this look? The Mobo and Cpu are a combo for 213.99

you might want to check out this combo - http://promotions.newegg.com/AMD/021407/index.html , it seems to be popular.

Another question - Will an Antec True 380W be enough to power this combo?
