Im currently sitting on a asus p5k-e wifi mobo with e4500cpu running like 3.5ghz. My friend wants me to build her a PC so ive been thinking about selling mine and building new one. Im way out of the loop with the new i3/i5 stuff, its been like 2yrs since ive built a pc. I only have like $600 to spend. Any suggestions? I did find this barebones system which ive never actually bought before or used Tigerdirect but just wanted to get some ideas if this is decent starting point. Im all for used parts but honestly from the various places ive looked so far, New there has been cheaper then used prices. Im looking to get the best bang for my bucks when it comes to overclocking. Any and all suggestions and links are welcome. Thanks

given that you have survived this long with an e4500.. you may want to look into AMD.. get a decent am3+ motherboard and a phenom II x4 925 plus 4 or 8 gigs of ram.. should last you a couple years but the advantage is that you will be able to upgrade to bulldozer 4/6/8 core processors in the future when prices drop after the price war between AMD and intel starts.


but the system you posted isn't a bad system at all for the price but that GT 210 would be the first thing i'd replace.. or better yet give your friend the GT 210 and keep what ever card you have in your system now. unless you are running onboard video anything is better than that GT 210.
 
Decided to make the jump to i5 series, ive been looking at i5-2500k with a P8P67 asus board. There any alternatives to the asus that are just as good? Been hard to find one in my budget and asus is all ive used for the past 4+ yrs. Open to suggestions.
