Need software to convert game demo into an avi or mpg

Hey guys,

I'm looking for some software to be able to convert a game demo into an avi or mpg... I know FRAPS is an option, but I"ve never used that program and I'm still going to need a program to get the images down to a considerable lower size. I used to have something, where in Half-Life games I could record a demo... and when I played the demo, I could run a command like start movie or something, and would take every frame and convert it into a screen shot... from then on, I was able to combine all of the screen shots into a movie.

I'm interested in something like that. Primarily the demo's are going to be of City of Heroes, so I don't think it has that repeated screen shot option. Does anybody have any ideas?

Well the reasons isn't important, but no, it's not because I want to make flash movies, it's because I play a game that people are quit interested in, and want to see some movies regarding it... thus, I'd like to make em.
