I was recently building a system and accidentally purchased the wrong processor. I now have a Sempron 2300 Socket A, thats being unused. I wanted to take my raid array out of my current pc and just build a raid box with this processor. Does anyone know of a Socket A mobo that has a PCIX slot?
prefferably 64bit 133mhz.
But any PCIX will work just fine. I just dont want to have a processor laying around.

If not, can anyone suggest a Socket A board with a PCIe x16 slot?

PCI-E want around until Socket 754.

NO Socket A board has PCI-E, only AGP and PCI.

Sorry :/

what about PCIX, Im currently using a broadcom raid controller thats PCIX compatible, I'd love to build a dedicated raid box.

Nope :/

(I don't think so. I am almost 100% Positive they don't)

Actually, there were some Socket A boards that had PCI-X. They were server boards, usually dual CPU ready, and used the AMD MP or MPX chipset. The best one I ever used was the MSI K7D Master here. Another one with a stellar reputation was the Tyan Tiger MPX here. Both are out of production, but both are available on eBay - I just checked.
Can they accept a Sempron 2300? Beats me, but if you're willing to take a risk, it might be lots of fun to try; if it doesn't accept the sempron, just sell it, and get some AthlonXPs, mod them to AthlonMPs, and have some fun!
