OK, since longer cables cut short (i.e. 2 device IDE cables cut between cpu & 1st device, then use 1st device to 2nd device as cpu to 1st device cable) don't work due to signal reflections (i.e. drops down to ata/33 mode)...

Anyone know where to purchase short, round IDE cables? Like 3 inches? Bonus points for orange UV reactive...

The shortest I can find now are 10 inches.

Too shart or too long will both give you data corruption problems.

The IDE spec requires the cables to be within 2 dimensions.

What you could do is take a standard 80-pin ribbon cable, paint it UV orange (or whatever color you want) then pop the connectors off, then put em back on where you need em, then cut off the excess ribbon.

I've seen people do it before, but very careful when pulling the connectors apart. They don't come apart easily.
