Need recommendations for a Digital Camera

$300 would probably end up in the Canon Poweshot A70/A60/A80 crowd that everyone in here seems to praises as a low end digicam

If you're looking at a long zoom digital (10x optical) look into the Fuji Finepix S5000 or the Minolta Z1 - both on line around $300, give or take. These resemble standard SLR cameras, therefore will not fit in your pocket. Both are 3 megapixles, and both have excellent reviews. I have the Z1 and will say it is quite satisfying, especailly for the money. Check the links for your research.

Canon Powershot A70 Can now be had for $250 in the right place. Slap on a 128 Compact Flash card for $20 and some rechargeables and you are set. BINGO! Dont listen to anything anyone else says.

Agreed.

I think we need more info on what you are interested in for features and what you'll be using it for. But, Canon A70 is a good one to look at. Along with the first post if you are interested in a large optical zoom.

no, price isn't really the selling point. It's how much you can trust an e-merchant. I've had dealings with so called "reputable" vendors. but everyone except newegg left bad taste in my mouth. If you are a minority or women you are specially in danger of being preyed upon. In fact, trying to save 40 bucks you will possibly end up spending more money returning crap and arguing on long distance calls.

Always try to keep your suppliers in choking distance.

I ordered my canon s50 from BeachCamera. 2 days after i placed my order, it was already in my hands; and i live in canada too!!!
