I was thinking that one as well.
Now, since it has a back plate, does that replace the black mounting bracket that the stock HSF attaches onto? I don't recall seeing any other mounting holes around the CPU socket...

Yes it does.
I agree. The Hyper 212 Plus's (stock) mounting system is bolt-through.

*sigh* after TigerDirect's ridiculously long shipping times, I got the 212 installed... the damn thing is so big I can't put my case's side panel back on! I'll probably fashion a temporary one out of plexi or something for the time being. But my lord is this frustrating.
It is pretty damn quiet though, I will say that.
Let's hope my cat doesn't decide to try and eat any wires while I sleep tonight. Ugh. I definitely have to figure something out before my baby starts crawling too. I guess I could just put the case up on my desk too...

Too late. I'm done spending more money on my computer. I'm just going to live with it until I can afford a new case all together.

Sorry about the HSF being too big for your case. Didn't think it was that big of a HSF.

It's no problem. I didn't think it would be too big either. I didn't even think to check. It's okay though, I have a mod in mind that will make it look good, and let me it the side panel on. Just gotta look into prices for parts!
I'd consider the 212 pretty excessive! Haha. I have an older Cooler Master Praetorian.

Its not excessive.. But your case is old and smallish given the 80mm fans it still has. If you have the cash to spend buy a CoolerMaster Haf 912 and you will end up with better cooling & quieter then your current case for about 60 bucks. Plus it will hold the hyper 212.

That's the problem, I don't really have the extra cash to spend.
Like I said, I'll deal with it for now until I can come up with a solution. I have an idea brewing that will be relatively cheap to implement. And still look good.
