Hello, I'm looking for a new chipset cooler for my A8N-E motherboard. The one thats on there currently is the loudest component in my case. BUT, there's a catch. It NEEDS to clear my 6800GT with VF700. Meaning, it basically has to be the same height as the stock cooler. But if it comes down to it, I can make some modifications.

Thanks,
Bryan

before i installed my new components including my a8n-e, i took that stock hsf off the chipset nad put on a vantec cooper iceberq. its very very quite and i'm sure cools much better too

arctic cool 64 pro. you will still have a an inch. In one of my systems i have the exact heatsink with an evga 6800ultra with an asus A8n sli deluxe and it clears it just fine. Plus its quiet and runs the darn thing playing BF2 very cool.

aww man.. you should've gotten the premium. the zalman is the best you can get, but it's a BITCH1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to get on. it probably won't clear your vf700, but there are many pictures of video cards with the vf700 and an a8n-e with the zalman nb47j.

anyway, to get the fan off you have to use pliers and try to pinch those snap in things in the back without ruining the circuitry. it's very nervewrecking and dangerous (but of course nobody on the forums will talk about this...especially zalman. they make it seem so simple which it isn't)

once you get it on, you will need some kind of decent airflow. i managed to fit the zalman bracket with a nexus 92mm fan blowing right over it. if you're gaming or overclocking especially, you'll need to create some kind of duct or put a fan over that thing. it gets hot! (but does it's job very well)

oh yea. if the vf700 doens't fit, you can turn the vf700, bend fins on the vf700 (or cut them) and bend fins on the nb47j (or cut them).
