ok I just got my artic freezer pro 64 in the mail today so i can finish putting my system together. I cleaned the gunk off and the processor with isopropyl alchohol and now I am mounting the heatsink onto the CPU. I've got both clips on but the little black bar which way does it go!? in the instructions it shows facing the fins but omg is that thing tuff and I have to put alot of force and I'm afraid ill break the lil black bar.

heatsink on, which does little bar go? left or right

heres the instructions

I have it towards the left laying atm, I want to do things 100% right and not half assed. does it matter which way it goes?

The black bar provides the tension needed to keep proper contact between the CPU and heatsink. You need to push it toward the fin side. It should require force, but it should not stick. If it sticks, the heatsink is not seated properly and you will need to remove it and replace it properly. If the bar isn't closed properly the CPU may overheat, so make sure the heatsink is seated fine and the bar is down properly before turning on the system.

A good test to see if a HSF is properly mounted properly is to pick up the motherboard by the heatsink ... with caution, obviously. That's usually what I do after I've secured any of my setups.

ok i pushed it down but it does stick, i booted it up and into windows xp, after 20 min of being on and a reboot the bios is showing temps of 22 degrees celcius for the CPU, i used artic silver and did a grain and a half like it said.

You can't trust what the BIOS reports. Download and run CoreTemp to get a more accurate reading of your temps.

rofl sounds liek a bad sensor or sumthin, cus i doubt your freezer is doin that well :p

ok i tried remounting that thing 3 times.. the tforce 550 se on the mounting bracket there is one offset for you too put the edges under, instead of there being 3 to even things out.. biostar felt they could save a lil money and not put 4 little plastic edges so to make sure these things go on even.. also wtf were they thinking with the placement of the ram so close to the CPU, i have to remove my CPU cooler to take out my ram LOL and atx psu connector.. dont even get me started :p

maybe it is :p your just jealous :p

It is also a 3600+, and those are idle temps. They do look pretty low though.
