Im upgrading, and from what I've done on the power supply calculator, I should have enough power supply carrying over my Antec 500W Smart Power. http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/2194/newbuild.jpg
I'll have 4 total hard drives, and 1 dvd drive. Can someone confirm is this is enough power? I don't plan on overclocking. Thanks

While a good quality 500W PSU would be fine for that rig, unfortunately, the SP-500 is not. You'll probably get by for a while if you re-use it, but you really should consider replacing it (a PSU does have the potential to take other parts along with it if and when it dies). It's a very low quality product because of the faulty capacitors used by CWT (OEM of the SmartPower 2.0). They used fuhjyyu caps, which tend to fail in moderate heat conditions; that, coupled with a not so smart cooling design of Antec on these units, makes for PSU that will fail sooner than it should. I'd recommend one of the newer Antec designs, like an Earthwatts 500W or 650W, or even a Neo Eco 520W instead.

o wow..thanks...ill be getting the neo eco. Thanks for the response.

Yup, get rid of that SmartPower 2! I wasn't a believer until my own unit failed :) That line is a lost-cause.

Heh, a bunch of co-workers and I went to Fry's Aniv. sale and bought a bunch of those SP2.0's when they were on sale for $20 each. About 60% of them died within the first three months, 20% died within the first year, and 10% died after 2 yrs. The remaining units are still working fine, 3yrs+ later.

Personally, I think I had three units replaced, and still have one that works fine (its a spare, mainly used when DBAN'ing some drives). Antec replaced 2 of them with Neo Power 500W/550W modular units, and one with an Earthwatts 500W -- cant remember exactly, 'cuz I sold them all, lol.
