I have finally decided to buy a cooler hyper master 48, but i find its stock fan @ 1400rpm:mad: a little to feeble for by prescott--its stock is 1800rpm.
So i thinking of buying an 80 mm fan powerfull enough - looking at 3000rpm--variable of course :p .
PS: I wiil also use a cooler master hyper 120 mm @ 1200rpm at the side vent as exhaust

Can i use an Aerogate for this hsf?

thx

IIRC, the hyper 48 uses a 92mm fan, so why not search for a 92mm instead of a 80mm? btw id recommend the 92mm tornado with a fan controller ;)

oh yeea and one more thing, i think the fan that comes with that heatsink is already adjustable and it spins at 1400rpm on its lowest setting, so juss hook it up with a fan controller

I sure hope u r correct coz thats the ONLY heatsink of its kind freely available in India.
Can u tell me its other speeds as well
I have a Cooler Master Aerogate 3
Thx guys

If you've got it connected to a 4-pin PWM header, it'll spin up from the minimum 1400rpm. Otherwise, it just runs at that slow speed. Good for low-noise, not so good for the hot Prescotts.

those fricken tornados are loud even at 7v

i like the vantec stealths maybe a panaflo.

it spins at 3200rpm ~ 64.19 cfm at full speed

Hmmmmmm.
Looking at An Antec 92 mm Plastic DC Double Ball Bearing Cooling Fan
Size: 92 x 92 x 25.4mm
3 pin to the motherboard with fan speed signal wire
Airflow: 42.4 CFM
Speed: 2600 RPM
voltage/Current: 12V/0.17A
Acoustic Noise: 33 dBA
Weight: 83g

Not bad huh!

The fan actually has 2 speeds if you are willing to mod it a bit.
1400 is the default low speed if you are hooking it up to a 3 pin header (leaving the 4th pin that controls the fans speed via PWM out in the cold).

If this is your scenario, I have a trick that will put the fan @ max speed, but it is a bit noisy.

Take a single staple or thin paperclip. Measure out the distance from the control like to the power lead on the molex. Put 90 degree bends in the staple/paperclip so that it acts as a jumper between the 4th line (connected to nothing) and the 12v line. Once the two are joined with this jumper, it will put the fan up to the max.

It was too loud for Lupine, so I did not leave it in place, but it is an option (unless someone here sees a fire hazard or something...)
;)

Good luck!

but the specs for CMH48 say a measly 1400rpm only.
How is it possible to run the fan at that speed ?please reply as it will help me save my precious $14 i wud have spent on Antec 92 mm fan @ 2600rpm ebay.
will Aerogate 3 help me?

Look at my trick above. Unmolested, it runs @ 1400 and quiet. If you jumper the power to the speed control, it maxes the fan speed out. It was just oo loud though in my particular instance.

no, it doesnt, it says that its an adjustable fan much like many of the other later cooler master products

why not juss try running the heatsink with its stock fan and see how it performs before you buy a new fan?

Just an FYI, I'm running the fan @ 1400 in Lupine, on an FX53, and temps are *very* reasonable (read: mid 30's IIRC).
NHO has a point. Try it stock and *see* if you really need to replace the fan. It works really well by itself.
