i have 4x512mb adata pc6400 and it seems that its my roadblock in getting to 3ghz with my e6300. its stable at 400x7=2800mhz and that leaves the ram at stock speeds with a nice OC on my cpu. but i see people breaking 3.0 all the time

my problem is if i oc the ram to anything over 428mhz(which would net me 3.0ghz with 1:1) it will freeze after a few sec. in windows. i'm guessing i just got cheap ram and now i'm paying the price. you guys agree?

ps. what would be a good 2x1gb kit that would allow me to get over this hill?
pss. is maintaining the 1:1 ratio really that important?

Try tighter timings and/or a bit higher voltages. I never worked with that mobo but if you could, lower the memory multiplier.
