Hi,
I was looking at between 285GTX and 4870X2...which is best out of those 2?
actually since his cpu is good enough he would get more oomph for Crysis DX10 and Clear Sky Dx10 maxed out and AA with a gtx285. other than those 2 games a gtx260 is more than plenty for 1680x1050.Neither.
Your monitor would not take advantage of either graphics card, too low res.
Pick up a GTX 260 or 4870.
is my psu powerful enough for a 285gtx?
should be no problem if you only have one hd and one dvd because the rest of your system is pretty basic(for high end) except for the overclocked cpu. Im not sure how much that oc on your cpu uses but your system with a stock e8500 and gtx285 would not even pull 300 watts at the wall under gaming load.is my psu powerful enough for a 285gtx?
Well im now considering moving up to 1920x1080 as might purchase a new monitor, would 285gtx still be fine at that res?
you wont be playing Crysis DX10 on very high settings especially with aa. you will be able to run Warhead on all enthusiast DX9 settings though but aa isnt going to happen there either.Yep, a 285 will fly at 1080p.
I'm using a 20% overclocked 8800GT at 1080p and its fantastic for most games, many I can run at max quality.
However there are some games that need mid quality or no AA and a few that need a faster card really to get all the lovelyness (ie Crysis).
Tomorrow I will own a new 55nM GTX260 and expect it to be able to run all quality settings maxed with mid to high AA.
I'll report back on how good it is if you like?
(I'm on E8400@4.1GHz, X38, 4GB, XP32)
