Need New Laser Printers - Please Help

So my office has sent me looking for new desktop laser printers. All of our upper management have Mono Desktop lasers at their desk for printing sensitive documents ect.

We have gone through 6 HP printers and I'm sick of them just crapping out. Not one has lasted much more then 1 year. We don't have a huge printing cycle, usually 100 pg/month, but they all go to crap quickly. They are maintained decently, but something always goes wrong with them.

HP use to make great printers we had many of the HP laserjets that were made in JAPAN and you just couldn't kill them.

I'm just looking to get a decent printer that will last a while.

Budget is: 100-300.

The best thing to do is to buy the optional 3 year money back guarantee from office depot when you buy any printer (you can buy the printer any where).

However, if you go over $300 for each printer you can get a repair plan and a 2 year money back guarantee and they would actually send someone out to fix it for you for free- included in the repair plan.

However, I would check out brother printers- they are work horses.

I have one of the cheap Brother printers and it has printed far more pages than I ever expected. Never had a stuck page or a problem using the printer in Linux. It just works without any fuss. I convinced my mom to get one and she has gone through a couple reams of paper with zero problems as well.

I did color in the toner detection lens on my last cartridge though. It said it was low but kept printing fine so I figured I would see if I could stretch it out That was about 300 pages ago...
 
The brother ones linked above are regularly well under $100 at staples. Remember though, Brother does not have integrated drum cartridges. The replacement drums cost more than those printers.

The HP LaserJet P2035 fits your budget, you may want to look into that. HP is running a sale on their website right now, you can get it for just a bit more than those Brother printers.

+1 for brother laser printer.

I would definitely grab a duplex model + networking model like the HL-2270dw.

The drums are expensive but you don't need to replace till till like 12,000 pages.

Just buy a new replacement printer and sell off the old one =D.

I manage to pick up the HL-2270DW during some staples deal with the $25 off $75 coupon and it as low as $60 in the past.
 
The fallacy that brother printers cost more in the long run has been said many times but the fact of the matter is that the HP cartridges print less on average according to their own numbers on the boxes, the HP cartridges have the drum unit included on the cartridge and thus the price of the cartridge is higher and finally in the long run (if you print enough) you have paid more than what a drum unit would cost on other brands due to the built-in costs of the drum units being included in every purchase.

That's hard to follow but for those of you who can't follow it: the drum unit cost is sunk into the cost of every replacement toner cartridge on HP printers and it makes you pay out even more than the one purchase price for brother/others at times.

Then again, if the HP has a problem, you are F'ed anyway. The OP is look for a reliable printer, not something that will save him a few $$$ after printing 50,000 pages.

Plus with 100 pages per month, it would take the OP a decade to wear out the drum. I think with a <$100 printer, getting a decade out of it is pretty good...

You can use toners from third party companies.
