Need New Hard drive

A) Shop at ZZF, as they do a better job of packing and shipping drives than Newegg does.

B) It would appear that you have settled on a 300GB drive. Of the two, I would pick the Maxtor unless you are installing in a poorly ventilated enclosure that would benefit from a cooler running drive. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=100719-6

C) The WD3200KS would probably be a little faster yet, and gets you 20 more gigs, but is a little bit more expensive.
 
does it have to be 300gb? If not, Fry's has a deal for the WD 2500KS
it is SATA II and has 16mb cache and the price is 110
u can also pick it up at zzf for 112 + tax i believe
they also have it at newegg but they charge shipping :mad:
 
doesnt necessarily have to be a 300 but why not get 50 extra gigs for onloy 15-20 dollars more..

I'd go for this one as well if you're of the opinion "Its just a few bucks more."

16MB cache and a cooler quieter drive.
Pro's:
20 more gig than the maxline 3
quieter and cooler running

Con's
3 year warranty vs 5 year warranty.

Since price-point doesnt seem to be a criteria, I'd opt for the WD model quoted above from ZZF. $140 out the door vs $125 and cooler/quieter slightly better overall performer.
