I have an X800XT pci-express and i overclocked it to 570/570 without any problems, but when i went to 580/580 i started getting artifacts out the bunghole, especially on mother nature on 3dmark03, that turtle was all over my screen! anyway, i know this has probably been asked before, and im sorry for asking it again but i didn't find any relevant threads...is sending more voltage to the card the only way to overclock it higher without getting artifacts? I'm not sure how to even send more voltage, maybe with a bios flash, but never done that. if there are other ways please post. Thanks

try better cooling first. if that doesn't let you get higher clocks, you need to voltmod it. xtremesystems.org is probably the best place to find voltmods and help with that. i'm not sure if a different bios would get you different voltages.

you'd need better cooling to deal with the extra heat from a voltmod anyways, so that's a good place to start.

also, is there any reason you're keeping the clocks syncronous? you might be held back by either the core or the memory, but the other one has more headroom, so... try pushing them one at a time. see where that takes you.

i see, someone told me keeping them in sync was more stable, but memory is supposed to be able to go higher so it makes sense. as of now, i have awesome air cooling, card is at 38C i don't know how good that is but my 6800 ultra had 60C so it has to be something..going water cooling pretty soon, just need to get the pump and the waterblock.
