I'm planning on getting

Q6600 or the 3.0 core2 (which one of these also?)
EVGA 9800 GTX SC
GSkill 6400 4 GB
Seagate 500gb 32mb

and I have 0 knowledge on mobo's but I would like one that I can upgrade in the future with
 
Definately roll with a P45 board for future proof. The Asus line has already been reviewed and hammered very well and looks to be very promising. You can pick your own price.

How are these boards for overclocking?
 
Any meaningful difference in the way these will overclock, especially for quads? Sure, the P5Q-E has lots of extras, but will it OC any better? How do these boards compare to the Gigabyte boards?

Not enough reviews out yet to say for sure, but I'm sure they all OC quite well, as did their predecessors.

Yes, Asus makes some Crossfire boards, and the P45 Express chipset supports Crossfire in dual 8x config. No, not all Asus boards are made for crossfire.

The P5Q Deluxe has 16 phase power, which is designed for more stable overclocking. All have high quality capacitors too which tend to give out with heavy voltage increases.

I have DDR2-800 right now. Would I need faster RAM to best utilize a P5Q Deluxe with anything from a Q6600 to a Q9450? I would use an Ultra 120-Extreme but didn't plan on extra northbridge cooling unless it was absolutely necessary? Or, what is a simple, quiet northbridge solution?
 
You can easily use your PC2-6400. You only need the 1066 if you want to further press your performance but if you already have it, not worth buying again. You should not need any extra Northbridge cooling due to the fact the fabrication process on these boards runs cooler.
