I have pretty much everything i need for "CRUSHER" the codename for my new build which at some point will be a 4 GPU box, but right now it will just have 2X 9600GSO for 10KPPD bringing my total PPD to about 30K:eek:

So far i have

Antec 300
OCZ StealthXStream 600W PSU
4 GB Corsair RAM
DVD/CD drive
evga 9600GSO Dual slot
evga 9600GSO single slot
windows XP pro 64 bit or windows XP pro 32bit( got them for free from MSDNAAP)

this system will be running headless with VNC/F@HMON

everything here has come from great deals so i would like to keep the motherboard and CPU below $200, i would really like a board with 4 PCIE slots so i wont have to upgrade when i add more GPU's

I would really like the MSI P6N Diamond http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130080 but it is hard to find these days, but somebody here suggested i get a MSI K9A2 Platinum http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130136 with a cheap dual core AMD Brisbane CPU?

How should i do this? i would like a quadcore for the extra SMP client but it will mainly be a GPU folding box so cheap dual core may be a better option?

I'd just run a cheap dual core, and save up to get the quad core. You can still run a SMP client on a dual core.

Thats the cheapest amd quad pcie board that your going to find.

You can get a be2400 x2 for 40 bucks or a Phenom x4 for 120 bucks. Personally id use that 80 bucks on another 9600gso (or 2 with the deals thats been going on).

They have an open box'd MSI k9A2 Plat on newegg right now for 105 bucks if your into that kind of thing.

i don't care if it is AMD or Intel mobo/cpu

I guess I dont have a specific moboard or CPU suggestion but can I suggest a 800 - 1000 watt PSU? :D

800+ watts for 4 9600GSOs? Overkill.

My E2200 with dual 9800GX2s pulls 475w at the wall full load, CPU and GPUs.

I think the K9A2 Plat is the best 4 slot MoBo as each slot is double width.
Drop in a 45 watt Brisbane, 2 sticks of Ram and Quad 9600's.
It should pull around 360 watts from wall and do close to 20k PpD with a bit of luck overclocking the cards.
I'm working on ~70 watts per card and ~80 watts for the CPU + Mobo + other hardware.
So a 600 watt PSU is ideal for it.

If you where going for a Q6600 and Quad 9800's then a 800-1,000 Watt PSU is called for but not otherwise..

Luck ........... :D

Any Ideas on where you can get the i/o shield for those.
Most Egg open boxes don't have them.

Was looking that the other day.

Yeah I was only half serious when I said that. :) If your running 4 9600s then it would indeed be overkill. However anything bigger than 9600s and it becomes a legitimate option. 9800s or 4850s on up the product line start to draw a little more power and you dont want a PSU running at 100% capacity all day either.

AMD_Gamer - You may also want to think about a bigger PSU if you plan on upgrading from the 9600s in the future. It may save you money in the long run. ;)

Yeah i got the PSU for $38 AR + 4GB USB 2.0 Flash drive, everything in this build is coming from awesome deals:D

I will upgrade in the future if it becomes a power problem.
