Need many more folders!

Hello everyone,

I was just browsing stanford folding stats site and I noticed that we have many less active processors than Overclockers Australia. Any chance each one of us (new members in particular) can convince a couple of friends each to start to fold for team 33?

The [H]orde has 4907 Active CPUs within 50 days vs.

Overclockers Australia has 7131 Active CPUs within 50 days

The difference? 2224 processors. That's alot even if we are pushing more mhz per processor.

Let's try for 3 members brought in by each new member. That should work to exponentially increase the number of people folding for the [H]orde.

Keep folding

Excellent idea, but why stop at 3? I say everyone here gets everyone they know with a computer to fold. We'd be having 'roo steaks until Christmas. :)

added 2ghz today, dont even have cases left for the damn things, the motherboards just sit on a table connected to 2gigs drives... ;)

OCAU has come up with a bunch of big producers in the last few months, but I didn't stop to think about how many CPU's we were down. Wow, that's a bunch! I think we've started to make a little progress with the latest influx of new members, but with that kind of a deficit, it's gonna take a while. Fold on!

Oh!! He's got the bug. Congratulations you are formally welcomed to the "I gotta have more for folding, just one more, no just one more, no just one more...." club.

just added 2.4ghz (2 1.2ghz machines) today, within the last 10 minutes. working on adding a lot more (40 some machines, ~20 900mzh, ~20 1.2ghz, and a couple 2.4ghz) so yeah. fun stuff here (adding a school to F@H... hehe)

i'm going to see if i can get my high school to put it's machines in, but i doubt it. and if it happened they'd probably be their own team, and not my username either. (folding as rogue_jedi, team 33 w00t)

I love a good competition, it improves the game (any game) for all competitors.

I'm a member here and at abxzone and others, but I fold for OCAU.

I believe that the emphasis in this thread to recruit new folders is the key to you blokes regaining the rubber ducky and to s retaining it.

Certainly without the contribution of new members since 1 May 2004, OCAU would still be chasing.

Some tips for recruiting:

1. The easiest sell I have had was to recruit my family doctor (what could be more natural?) The day after my last checkup, I attended at his surgery and installed the GUI client on his 2 computers at lunch time. He wanted the graphical version so that he could wow his patients (and maybe reruit some). It's now part of the marketing of his medical practice.

2. I use the flash media promo prepared some time ago by team Short Media. Excellent Promotional piece and selling tool. Download it here.

http://www.short-media.com/download.php?dc=57

I refer to the flash media promo, though the newer one is also good, but more oriented to recruiting for short-media.

Why do I offer tips to help you do better?

Ezee, I want the competion to press me to do better. The gauntlet is down! We'll do it even better than you. :)

Yours in advancing science

I posted this in another thread as an Idea, but I'll post it here too.

One thing that might get more [H] members folding their asses off would be to beg borrow and plead Kyle to for an arrangement where if you fold a certain amount of WU's a month you get free membership to Genmay. If you don't get enough WU's for a month then you don't get access or something like that..
Maybe make it a pretty high amount so that Kyle wouldn't be losing out on too much money. Just an idea.

Worth kicking around? I dunno, but whatever.

hey, i'm all for it... o and i'm up to ~14ghz (tho i think they're all doing the same WU right now b/c we screwed up and copied the WU to all the machines, but they should get their own when they all finish it)

genmay is the only non-free part of the forum. the one all the way at the bottom (genmay = general mayhem)

What's "membership to Genmay"

haha noob! Just kiddin ;) It's short for General Mayhem. It's at the very bottom of the forum list. Only Section that's subscription based (to post in it anyways). It's not much $ though.

lol I was still a lurker in those days I think! Good stuff. I remember thinking they should bring back stank cheeze instead of just cheeze. Now we get this [H]lite crap? :p

Got 2 boxen folding for the [H]orde, just assembled 3rd, but can't connect to net just yet, issues with M$. Overclockix doesn't recognize most of my rig because of raid 0+1 in use. How the heck can I use it to fold?

PS. Built as a video encoding rig, no need to access net except to fold for the [H]orde. How? Only a P4 3.6, but I want to give. Instructions on borging an unfriendly server would help too.

woot.

Dual AMD 2400 MP (1 gig ram) folding 24-7 (2 FAH clients)
Single Pent III 700 Mhz (256 memory) folding 24-7 (1 FAH client)
Dual Pent III 1.6 Ghz (1 gig ram) folding 19-5, 24-2 (2 FAH client)

just added six computers, will put it on my friend's computers, the doctor thing was smart (whoever did that), and will put it all on of my high school's computers when i get back there. Lord_Talps will be pholdin'!

Excellent, just make sure you get the proper permission to borg your schools boxen. Wouldn't be good to have a illegal folding incident make the press. Some admins aren't enlightened enough to recognize the value of folding so you might have to kiss some butt to get permission. Even on your friends machine, always ask first. ;)

got that right ;)

I now have my 2.3GHz athlon running, a laptop running (1ghz?) two work computers (2.2GHz combined) and another friend with a P2.4GHz... but we seem to all be getting TINKER WUs, so things move slowly :)

Anyways, I'm trying to get things moving as I get back into folding ;)
