Recently I had problems with my computer and sent it in to get repaired and just got it back tonight. I figured the problems would be the hard drive so the techs checked my hard drive for several days and formatted my computer.

Tonight when I started reinstalling programs though, I installed my norton antivirus fine, but when I went to install battlefield vietnam the same problem I was having before popped up. The first time my computer restarted and it gave a disk boot failure and told me to insert my boot disk. I just restarted and my computer worked fine and the second time I tried installing it seemed to work fine until about halfway through when I got this blue screen that was saying something about my computer had to be shut down because of an error that could cause damage. I didn't see all of it because I had left the room for a bit, and then my computer restarted again.

Any ideas on what might be wrong? It took the techs nearly 3 weeks to get my computer back to me, and this happened to me before about two months ago. I don't want to have to send it in for another few weeks.
 
You have a major Hw malfunction in the junction! :p

First thing is to download harddrive self test utility from your manuf website - runs as boot from floppy PC DOS program.
Of course, more info is needed for help - what psu, how old PC - what mobo , what video etc.

One must take out everything but the basics - one stick ram/CPU/vidcard/hdd to start troubleshooting - make sure all fans spinning - CPU seated corectly, temps etc.
