Basically I'm wondering what the fastest way to get an ISO would be?

I have a Dell Latitude D410 (No CD Drive) that I want to install linux on (never used linux) using a USB thumb drive.

I'm not picky on which flavor of linux I use, I originally choose Ubuntu.

I attempted to download the ISO yesterday from ubuntu.com, it took most of the day and I let it go through the night only to find that it restarted in the middle of the night I'm back to ground zero!

Any ideas on where I can download a quicker ISO? Never was really into file sharing so I don't know how that stuff works.

Also if Ubuntu isn't good for a new linux user I would appreciate suggestions.
 
They have ISOs for various distros that run the gamut from floppy disk size to Bluray disc size. They have varying levels of functionality.

What you need instead is a method for downloading that allows you to resume partial downloads. Bittorrent does this, wget does this, some Firefox extensions do this...
 
I'm trying the bittorrent thing now with Vuze...never used it so we shall see, any tips on making the ISO bootable from a thumb drive?
 
Well I got it installed with no issues, thanks guys.

Only problem I have is that my wireless won't stay connected, it drops the connection randomly about every 4-6 minutes but then re-connects about 15 seconds later. Any ideas on how to fix this?
