Greetings...

Anyone got either a ram UG chip or know where I can find one?

Be very careful about aftermarket upgrades. These G200s are very picky about the RAM they use. Many ppl got aftermarket upgrades that didn't work with their cards. Only use official Matrox RAM in it.

Also be aware that when you add the RAM to G200, the card will automatically clock itself down, and you will end up with an even slower card. The only reason you should upgrade it is if you are trying to run apps that must have the extra RAM.

Ahh, back in the day when you COULD just add ram to a card. It's kind of a good thing we don't still have that ability today.....or we'd have loads of rich bastards out there with 1024MB 9800XT's and shit. ;) :p

Probly not, but the thought of it is cool. Lower initial card costs and more long term flexibility for someone who doesn't want a whole new card. Man, maybe we SHOULD be able to do it. :D

Thanks so much for the info! However, I since found out that my G-200 heatsink fits an ATi 9600 Pro perfectly. So it is now sitting on that card in a highly modified state.

Now I am considering just using some Artic thermal epoxy to glue a generic HS to the G-200 :) Then I can sell it off to someone in a used computer (that I don't know).
