im not a huge ATI guy and i find the naming scheme of the 9800 confusing at times.

What is the cheapest price a person can get a 9800 pro 128 meg, 256 bit for?

links or prices appreciated.

Right around $170.00 new is my guess. Check newegg.com or other sites. Researching prices yourself isn't that hard.

Just be carefull of 9800SE's and 9800Pro's that are 128bit.
 
Looking on Pricewatch the cheapest I see is 199.99 with free shipping.
I bought one 6 months ago for 205. They should be a little lower in price imo, relative to what's out there. But they are a good compromise between the low 100 dollar cards and the high 200 dollar cards.


Newegg has the same card "rosewill" for 199.99.
 
Compusa had a rebate going for a 6800nu for $199, but it might be over. Best Buy puts the 6800OC's on sale for $250 right next to their $250 9800 pro's which I can't understand for the life of me.
 
Probably the same reason that Best Buy suggested that I buy a 2 pipe 256mb 9250 instead of a 4 pipe 256mb 9550 for the same price. I'm glad I found this place and have entered "the know." BTW Boss, BB accepted the card back :D
 
well.. if you want a real good laugh a compusa computer section worker told me that "a geforce 4 mx is almost the same thing as a 6800 OC and just as good"

makes it a real pain in the ass to find a true 256 bit card w/ all the se's out.

I once heard a man ask a CompUSA guy "Can you help me with wireless routers?" and the CUSA guy replied "Nope I sure can't". I was so pissed off that I went over here and said "I don't work here but I'll help you". I had the benefit of making the asshole compusa guy look bad and helping some guy not get ripped off. Retailers will tell you all kinds of crap and just talk out of their ass all the time to make a sale.
