Need Ideas for super lanboy

Im stuck and cant think of any ideas for my super lanboy case i got all the wires cleaned up and wanted to get some cathodes but dont know where they would fit so let me know if theres anything i can do to mod my case to keep me busy for a while
 
one cathode can go at the bottom on the window side

and one go on the side between the window panel and the rear fan

Some ideas I have with mine (soon to get dremmeled, I have my spring break right now, so lots o' free time):

I'm trying to go for quiet, so I'm planning on just using my PSU fan for exhaust, and sticking a piece of plexi or whatever to cover the back 120 fan grill area.

Becuase I'll have water on my gpu & cpu, and I'll get a nice passive nb heatsink, I should be able to scrap the front 120mm intake fan, and stick some thin foam to create a dust blocker. Since there won't be a fan there, I can also cut out the fan grill in front of the hd cage.

My pump is going to be an Eheim 1048 (big), but I'll have all my 5 1/4" bays used up, and I have 3 hard drives, so my heater core will need to go on top, externally held onto the top by some thin bolts and nuts.

I might try sticking some more foam padding in between the hds to minimize vibrations, depending on it it blocks airflow or not.

For better cable management, I'll cut out some slotts in the motherboard tray to pass the psu, ide, & floppy cables to the back, and stick some rubber molding over the edges. If the panel feels too flimsy, I'll attach some metal strips to create more support.

I might cut out the area behind cpu socket to make it possible to change my cpu block/heatsinks without taking the mobo out.

Other ideas, which I don't know if I'll do, include modding the 5 1/4" door, cutting a design in the UV intake cover, and maybe some other stuff to assist with the cooling or make it quieter. Look in the gallery for the Antec/SLB threads for some more ideas, other than the ones (like most of the ones that I listed) that I alrady got from others.
 
Im not to sure if I like the water cooling ones they look cool and all but just water + electronics = trobule in my opinion i dont know i just need something to occupy my time.
 
there was a fella on here that painted the inside of his LanBoy the most gorgeous neon green. the paintjobs i've seen people do really give the internals of a PC that "pop". have you given that any thought?
 
Well, how intensive of a mod do you want to do? Cut out a chunk out of the top of the case and put in UV reactive 3mm Plexi, and put some UV lights underneath (cold cathode or LED).

I'm also about to go on an all-out LanBoy mod, so I'm not going to share all my ideas just yet.

You can swap out whatever video card cooler you have, and install a Silenx or Zalman "flower" cooler.

A few LEDs can go a long way.

i would like the mod to be pretty big but not like full out giant i just want something that when people see it they say "wow!".
 
That's the thing... most people use "beige boxes", and so they all go "WOW" upon seeing any sort of non-standard case. Slap a few lights in, or even sleeved cables, and people think that you spent a whole lot of time on the system. Well, typical people at least.

If you're trying to impress enthusiasts, then just think of something original. An original theme or something, idk.
 
well i did have 1 idea but for another case i have somewhere around here. i really dont feel like painting the outside of a lanboy
 
you've been signed up on [H] for 2 weeks, and you haven't found enough good ideas on your own? you're either not looking or you want someone to show you a mod step-by-step. just get out there and get looking. you'll find more than you ever would just asking "anyone else?" over and over.

furthermore, it would help everyone out if you'd take some pictures of your rig. if you don't have a digital camera, then you know where to start. take that 60 bucks you were gonna use to buy some modding gear, and get a 3MP camera, FIRST. take some smutty PC pics, post 'em up, and see if that renews anyone's interest. you'll want to take pictures of whatever you end up with anyway.
 
It's often suggested the one should mod with a theme in mind. Do you want better cooling? Do you want better lighting?

Maybe a paint job is in order. A few strategically placed decals may be enough to give your case a facelift.

Enough electonics to create custom lighting (via LEDs): $15

A couple of cold cathode tubes: $30

Basic painting supplies, enough electronics to create custom lighting, and some acrylic paneling to create a window on top of the case: $60

Dremel and a few accessories/safety tools: $100

A watercooling setup: $150

A unique/creative/functional mod that one could be proud of: priceless =)
