Need helping with Wireless setup

Hello Everyone,

I recently starting university and now that I am finished with the first week I thought it would be a great time to tweak my room.
Currently I have access to a wireless connection provided by the university; it has a Shared WEP authentication.

My laptop (ThinkPad T61) gets a full 100% signal which is great!
However my problem lies with my PS3 and my desktop.
The PS3 cannot connect to the wireless network because of the Shared WEP authentication (it only supports open).
My desktop at the moment is using a wireless pci card from Linksys which is giving me about 30-45% signal using the stock antenna.
First thing I tired for my PS3 was to use the Internet Connection Sharing of XP to get the PS3 to connect via my desktop's wireless connection however if I enabled ICS I could no longer connect to the internet with my desktop.
When I tried bridging my Ethernet and wireless connection the desktop froze each time the PS3 tried to utilize the connection. (Yes I am using a crossover cable if you are wondering).
So here lies my question: Would a different antenna boost my desktops signal? Or would you recommend I buy a wireless-to-Ethernet bridge?
And for my PS3 is the bridge route the better choice? Or is there another way to connect through my desktop?

ps: in my area(Switzerland) the only wireless bridges I seem to be able to find are the
Buffalo AirStation Turbo G
Linksys WET54G
and USRobotics MAXg
