i have a creative xfi extreme music card and logitech ze300s and ever since i moved my sound card to the bottom pci slot the sound is quieter and ppl can barely hear me on my mic. and somtimes when i turn on my computer all i hear is static any ideas?

this static thing is really pissing me off. i fixed my mic but the static thing is really makin me mad.

Very common with Creative Labs cards. Can you move the card to another slot?
Also mute all the inputs your not using. Your soundcard should be DEAD SILENT until you put a signal through it...

ill try moving back to the other slot, i moved it so my gpu would get more room to breathe.

when i moved it back to the old slot i got no sound at all, so i put it back but im still getting static..

im about to throw my soundcard out the window! any1 else have any ideas?

Try using the latest drivers available for your card. If your are try uninstalling all drivers and apps related to the card and use driver cleaner set for Creative labs to remove what is left and start from the ground up with the latest drivers available for your card. Then install the apps off your disk.. see if that will work. Can you explain everything you did prior to moving your card and after words...what software did you add etc? -Also when you moved the Card to another PCI slot did you reinstall the drivers? becasue if you didn't this is why you have no sound when the card is in that slot. Sometimes the system will pick up the card and install the needed drivers and sometimes not.

well i re-wried my case and moved the soundcard. i then installed the lastest drivers. didnt add any other apps.

i reninstalled and i havent gotten static yet but now i only get sound from 4 speakers. my front right speaker and front left both come out of the front left.

i fixed the problem. its all good now. as for the 4 speakers only working seems with my tooless kit its hard to push the cables all the way in so i did and its good now. audioguy what you sayd fixed the static problem.

thanks guys.

!!well the static came back this morning, it was gone for a while but when i turned on my computer this morning it came back. i dont want to move my soundcard back to its original spot because my gfx card has alot more room to get air this way.
