Need Help (Won't Boot OS)

I just got a new motherboard, the Abit AN7 Guru. I'm using that with default settings along with a 2500 Barton and 512 DDR 2700 Kingston memory. When I pick load windows normally from the menu the screen goes black and stays there. I tried loading linux up but it freezes at "Configuring Kernel Parameters." These are both on separate hard drives.

I have swapped out the CPU for an XP 2400 and get the same results. I've also swapped out the memory with Corsair and a Generic DDR 2700 Chip. Still no go. I've also tried doing a fresh install of Windows XP from the CD. It freezes before the menu comes up.

I did run MemTest without fail, the memory checked out okay and the program ran fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm about to send this board back. I don't know what I am doing wrong!

Thanks

I've cleared the Cmos, and played with bios settings still can't get it to work. I haven't tried the PSU but will go do that now, any other suggestions?

Thanks a lot guys :)

Ahh...which menu are you refering to? Windoze or a program like System Commander? Which version of Windoze are you using?

I'm referring to the menu that comes up where you can pick safe mode, command prompt, etc... (The one that comes up if windows is shut down incorrectly) Running Windows XP.

Thanks

Since MemTest runs on a FD it sounds to me that the problem is between your MB, HD, and possibly the CDROM as well. I might also put a new HD and CDROM cable on just to rule out that possibility.

You could also have a corrupted BIOS. Have you tried re-flashing the BIOS? If all else fails, RMA.
