-liteon cd-rom drive

-Vantec NXP-305 Nexus fan controller

next week getting an ati 9800 pro, audigy 2 zs, zalman zm80c-hp cooler, and xp pro. got to still put the swiftech mcx159 P chip cooler on nb.

now i plan to run my raptors in raid 0 using the ich5r chip. I flashed my bios to version 1015 in dos using afudos option. are these the correct steps in creating raid 0.
A.) You do not have to format the drives first.
B.) Install both drives and connect the SATA Raid plugs to the ICH5R connectors on the mobo. There are two sets of SATA connectors on this board. The ICH5R connectors are the set closest to the green LED.
C.) Boot the computer and push the DEL key to get into the BIOS.
D.) Once in the BIOS, go to the MAIN tab, then scroll down to IDE CONFIGURATION.
E.) Set: Enhanced Mode Support On [SATA]
Configure SATA as RAID [Yes]
Serial Raid BootROM [Enable]
F.) Press F10 to save and reboot
G.) On reboot you should see a screen which shows your drives, press ctrl I to get into the Intel Raid set up program, then follow the instructions on page 5-34 of the manual to set up your array.
H.) Now here is the tricky part... ASUS hid the Intel Raid drivers on the their software disc which you got with the mobo. Open the disc, but dont let it autostart - then drill down through the following folders - Drivers/Chipset/IAA then locate the MakeDisk application... run it an it will make the floppy you need when installing windows (the press F6 then S routine). Boy was that a bit.h to find!
I.) WinXP will prompt you to partion the array and then will format it. It will only format the partition that you define to install XP on.

does this seem correct and any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

I briefly read through your post and you missed a step in creating a RAID volume.

Before you do anything like that in BIOS, make sure you boot from the Windows XP CD and load the RAID drivers for your motherboard when prompted with an F6. If you don't, everything will work as you stated except that you will have 2 unformatted partitions to install Windows onto instead of one.
