Need help with watercooling GPU+CPU

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and offer your assistance. I've been a long time member, just haven't posted recently due to busy at work! But its time to upgrade my rig or shall I say cooling lol. Also, I'm a member of folding under team 33 aka HardOCP!

Ok, so this is my rig at the moment. I'm tired of my gpu being almost 85degrees when overclocked to 850 on the core, and h100 around 80-85 when overclocking around 4.7ghz+

I need something quieter, but much more performance so I've decided to turn to water cooling. My system is listed below, and any suggestions are well appreciaited. On a side note, I may be (fingers crossed) be upgrading to nvidia surround set up with 3 monitors. Currently I'm using 50inch plasma tv as my source of monitor. So if i decide to go Nvidia surround, should I upgrade my GPUs (I like to turn everything Up AA, AF, Image settings, etc)?

CPU: i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz +
Corsair H100 w/stock fans on bottom, above radiator=NZXT 200mm performance fans
GPU: MSI Lightning GTX 480 SLI (2) @ 850mhz on core, temps just too high plus sound is ridiculously loud
NZXT Phantom Black/Orange Edition
16gb Corsair LP Vengeance Blue Ram 1600
Asus p8z68 V-Pro (not 3.0 pciexpress edition)
Corsair AX 1200 Watt PSU
Xigmatek Orange Led fans used for all case fans

What do you guys recomend for better cooling as I fold, but its just ridiculously loud when trying to sleep in the same room at night lol? I'm looking for amazing performance with temps for GPU and CPU but also very quiet. And if I go Nvidia Surround, should I upgrade (and to what) or just keep what I have?

**I posted this on Tom's Hardware, but got no response, so I'm not trying to hog up forum space lol, plus I figure I should've gone to the home of the [H]orde!

How much are you looking to spend on water cooling? What's your budget?

I love my cheap (~$200 USD) Swifttech setup that cools my GTX 480 to 45C or less, and it's very quiet.

You can't go wrong with one of the RASA kits. I don't think there are any waterblocks for the 480 lightning so you'll have to use universal blocks.

Also consider upgrading your 480 sli to a single 670 as it'll offer similar performance while drawing significantly less power and emitting less heat. The reason why your cpu temps is so hot is probably that its drawing heat directly from your 480s.

For a more economical solution than watercooling, you can get quieter fans for your h100 such as the new corsair sp series, and upgrading your 480s to a single 670 should also significantly reduce your overall noise and temperatures as I previously mentioned. The 670 DC2 is the quietest 670 so you should consider it over reference cards if you're sticking with air. I do however believe that EK is making a waterblock for it so it would go both ways.

tl;dr:

air - rad fan upgrade, upgrade to 670

water - rasa 360 kit + universal blocks for 480 or reference 670 + waterblock.

Its going to be in the $350+ range.

A VGA block will be $110-120. Pump, will be $50-$80. Radiator that can support both chips will be in the $75-100 range. CPU block will be in the $65-$70 range for one that will make a difference over an H100. Clamps, around $10. Tubing around $25-30. Reservoir around $25-40. Misc stuff another $10-20.

I just had a conversation with a friend about how his brother took 3 H60s and had 1 for the cpu, 1 for each card. I wasn't able to get many specifics but he said it worked great. I'll have to go to his house and see for myself. Take some pics while i'm at it.
