I'm getting ready to upgrade my old Intel 7700K system. I'm looking at a MSI PRO B550M-VC WiFi and an Ryzen 5700X. I'll also be upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (fresh install). The MSI motherboard has a connector for a TPM 2.0 module. Do I need to buy a TPM module too, to install Win11 without problems?

nope, just turn on the chips tpm in bios(fTPM) and youre gtg

Off topic, but why a 5700x? Am4 is a bit dated now to be buying into at this point. No?

That said I'm on the same platform so no judgment. Just curious.

I haven't updated that in a while, but I suppose it's a proper time to. Lol. Using mobile, I forget those exist.

Budget constraints. I can get an AM4 MB and CPU new for about $260 and reuse the 32GB of DDR4 and the rest of the stuff in my old case. I can't even get a 7700X for that price. And the AM5 MBs are much more expensive as is the DDR5 RAM. My sig is also out of date - now have 4x Ripjaws 8GB sticks and a water cooled 3070. Will have to get a new waterblock for the 5700X though. Built the current 7700K platform in 2017 and it has held up for my until now. I'm over 65 so this AM4 platform will probably last until I can't use it anymore. :)

And I found a deal from Amazon Germany on a 5800X for $137 so I snapped that up. Unfortunately it was supposed to arrive on 1-28 but Amazon cancelled my order and refunded the funds. Generic "could not deliver to my location" excuse. Then while searching for options I found a 5800XT for $159, only $10 more than the 5700X they had listed. The 5800XT should be here in the next few days. 100MHz bump on the boost clock over the 5800X, 200MHz over the 5700X, and 400MHz bump on the base clock over the 5700X. For $10 it's worthwhile.
