I just grabbed an Altec Lansing AHS-302 headset w/microphone and a plantronics a70 i beleive thats what it is.... Anywho i had both headsets transmitting pretty clearly over microphone on games and voice recording but now that i got new hardware aka motherboard ram and cpu (same sound card though), my microphone sounds like junk, like i am talking in a cave or tunnel or something.... there was no background noise and since im on a headset there was no speaker echo... help? (i think its some sort of software setting problem?)

bump for the 2nd time this is getting old why did the moderator move this thread here no one helps me here

What soundcard?
Many times solving this problem is as simple as muting the microphone in the playback mixer.
What happens is the game engine routes the sound from the mic back through the wav device for playback. If the mic is not muted you get an echo because of there is a small delay in this process.
