I recently got my first ssd and the install has been a nightmare.
I have 2 other hard drives, a wd black that was my main drive and has all my games, and a bigger wd black that I use to store photos/music etc.
I got a crucial m4 64g, just to serve as a boot drive.
I am not sure if its related, but I changed my motherboard at the same time. The motherboards were pretty comparable. I went from a gigabyte ga-870a-ud3 to a ga-890fxa-ud3. I only did this because a friend gave me a phenom II 945 and I was going to put together a system for my son with it.. I figured I might as well use the newer motherboard myself so I could crossfire in the future.
I unplugged my spinners as several people recomended and installed the m4. The install was a little hectic, but I got everything up and running. It seemed to work fine, I was able to surf the net, do all the windows updates, etc.
Then I shut it down, plugged my second hard drive in, rebooted and went in to the bios to set the boot order, but the ssd no longer shows up? It wont boot off the spinner, either due to the mb change, or due to th change from ide to ahci. I shut it off, unplugged the spinner, and tried again, but it still does not see the ssd.
Any ideas what happened, or how I can fix it?
This has been a much bigger pia than I expected
thanks
