need help with sound card!!!

i m planning to upgrade to a new sound card and m preity interested in the asus xonar ds. right now i am using the realtek onboard audio.i use the rear panel for a 5.1 output and the front panel for a 4.1 output simultaneously and would like to do d same with the xonar ds.bt d question is,will d xonar let me do so?any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
 
the sound card does not "decide" that for you as far as I know. You have to choose which source to use in windows. So I think you can only use one @ a time.

That is a decent soundcard but, fyi I tried one and I noticed that the sound didn't "line up" with the action in games loke CoD: BO. So I retunrned it. I would recommend a creative card that does the sound processing on its on and isnt dependant on using the cpu to process.

The audio processing isn't done on any creative card with CoD BO or any game that doesn't use open al or DS3D afaik.

well how could I experience a noticeable audio "lag" with the asus soundcard running then? The sound effects were coming through about an 1/8th of a sec after the video would appear.
I do not experience this with my creative card in the same system.
 
I own one of these and the sound quality is nice -- haven't gamed with it tho so can't speak to the lag or lack thereof

Sounds like a driver issue, Creative has them too. It could be that high dpc latency issue that the unified xonar drivers would have cleared up.
