Ok, I'm formatting my friends Sony Vaio Model PCG-8K2R and I'm having problems. Well I formatted it and everything works well, but he doesn't have any of his drivers, so I figured np I'll just go onto the Sony website, find the model, and find out what hardware is on it. Well aparrently the model doesn't exist, so I can't find any drivers for it. I downloaded a utility from the support site that automatically identifies the model, and it said that this isn't a Sony computer. I'm typing on it right now, it really is one. Anyone have any ideas?

You might be able to pick up drivers for a similar model. Or install OEM drivers (like Nvidia reference drivers, for example). Apart from that, there is little you can do, sadly.

Actually, have you checked all of the Sony websites (including overseas pages)? It may just be an overseas model. Can't say whether that would be the case, though.
 
Sorry devil dog, just looked on Japan's Sony site. Nothing, try europes sony site....
 
Dont go off the model number off the bottom of the computer. Look on the lower right hand side(under LCD). Is there a different model number. Mine on the bottom of my laptop says PCG-9F1R(which does not exist), but my true model is PCG-NV200, which is on the bottom of my LCD in the lower right hand corner near the hinge.......
