I will keep it short and answer any questions.

This card games flawlessly in BF4 and other games, runs for hours with all the eye candy.
THEN! If I try to browse the web, in a couple of minutes it flickers, it cuts to black, and keeps doing it. It will do this whether I have gamed or not.

Help:( I am getting ready to sell the card and live with my 7850 that runs perfectly in the same PC. If I sell it, do you guys think a CF 7850 set up will be as good?

1000 watt pwr supply.

Great air flow, great temps, no idea.

Try a different PCI slot. Does it do this when you play video or watch youtube? Maybe try without flash and see if it still goes black.

Could be the 2D clock speed is too low. You can try setting it higher and see if it helps.

Help. 2D Clock speed? Who, What, Where, When, and How?

FOOSHNIK: Good catch, I watched a whole movie last night. No problems. Don't watch much youtube.

Still looking for some help. Any suggestions?

NARSBARS: Swapped in my 7850 for two days. Got one cut to black, no flickers. I would think power supply but this does not happen while gaming.

I've been dealing with the same issue with my Gigabyte 7950 WF3. I can replicate the problem by going into BF4 for a minute and quitting to desktop, then open a flash video or video file and my screen goes grey but I still have audio which means my computer did not crash yet and I'm able to shut down safely. I tried swapping PSU and memory and the problem was still there. Once I replaced it with my old 5770 video card problem went away. I installed the 7950 back in and as of yesterday the problem hasn't returned yet. I don't know if it is a faulty card or something with the Catalyst 13.9 Drivers that I'm using which was installed with a fresh copy of Windows 8.1. From what I found through my research the problem is triggered by hardware acceleration used by browsers such as flash player. This problem goes back many years with Radeon drivers if you search around.

Still having the same problem. Switched to a complete new rig and same issues. The gaming is too good to get rid of the card, but it drives me nuts.

MSI Afterburner>settings>disable ULPS

Report back with findings.

See what happens when you prevent the card from entering low power state during desktop use.
