Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my GPU's, I've been looking at the 7970's to be put into crossfire, but I don't know what cards are the best to go with... there's several difference ones, etc, being ghz editions, and normal editions. I'm wanting to get the best ones I can get, what would fit that category?

Besides the Asus Ares of course.

I've been rumored the Asus matrix and msi lightning are the best 7970's? Is this true? Or am I making the wrong decision... can someone help me out?

Thanks.

Resolution... What resolution are you planning on playing at? What settings do you plan on using? Two 7970s could be overkill, or you could require two GeForce Titans (not likely)... WE NEED MORE INFO!!! :D

Hahah from reading those other threads, that Titan seems like a big waste of money, and that CF 7970's will out perform it :p

Anywho! I'm playing eyefinity on 3 24' monitors, and I want to be able to play in the highest quality settings of any game, for example, Crysis 3, want to be able to smash it.

Well, the Titan "suggestion" was more tongue-in-cheek, but with those requirements, you might actually have to get a pair! At least, to "smash" something like Crysis 3! But alas, this thread's actually out of my league since I don't mess with the multi-monitor setups. :(

Yeah I hear ya! I've done a lot of reading, and from what I've came across the Crossfire 7970's are the highest performing video cards you can get right now, followed by the SLI 680's, then those dual gpu cards, such as the 690, 7990. And from what I saw that new Titan is is better than the 680, but not as good as the 690, and it's more expensive than a 690, and I do believe the Ares tops them all, but is closely matched by xfire 7970's, but with a $600 limited edition tag.

I'm just trying to find out what are the best 7970's you can get right now, so that I can have the top performance video cards on the market right now

I guess I should be asking what the best 7970 GHz edition card is, since they're obviously better than the standard cards.

7970 ghz really aren't anything more than factory overcloked 7970s. if you're intent on going with 7970 cf then you should look for the best non-reference cooler and power design. that being said, as a user of both 7970 cf and gtx680 sli, the sli setup delivers a smoother gaming experience for me at 25x16. can't speak to multi monitor performance.

Renny are you on a 30 inch?

I believe the last drivers should've solved a lot of the Xfire issues/smoothness.

(3) 24 inch monitors still does not tell us the resolution; unless I missed something?

Personally I would go with reference style coolers when running Xfire to vent the hot air out of the case and off of the cards themselves.

I have two of these in two separate machines and will most likely order a two more for each machine:

I believe Tiger Direct has them for $20-30 cheaper than Newegg. If you're at 1080p resolution I would probably just save your cash and buy two 7950s and buy some water blocks.
