Hi all, I'm going to be building a new build soon and want some opinions/help!
I'm currently running a P4 with 512 mbs of RAM and according to GPU-Z, a Nvidia Geforce FX 5200. I recently connected a 24" LCD via VGA to it and I don't think it's enough to power it. Everything renders realllly slowly, and it's impossible to watch HD content.
I will be using the computer for Photoshop and Illustrator work, as well as movies and light gaming (at 1920*1200) and of course the usual word processing and surfing.
This is going to be my first build, and the first time I'll play with overclocking, so I'm not sure if my choice of components are that good. I have some of the components already (got them when they were on sale
) but I'm still missing the most important parts.
I'm in Canada, and I buy most of my stuff from NCIX.
Already have:
Motherboard:
ASUS P5E-VM HDMI mATX LGA775 G35 DDR2 PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 PCI SATA2 RAID Sound HDMI VGA Motherboard ?
or
DFI LP Jr P45-T2RS mATX LGA775 P45 DDR2 2PCI-E16 1PCI CrossFire SATA2 RAID HD Sound GLAN Motherboard ?
Processor:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Retail Box
CPU Heatsink:

RAM:
Mushkin XP PC2-8000 Redline 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1000 CL5-5-5-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit
GPU:
???
Optical drive:
Samsung SH-S223Q/BEBN Black DVD+RW 22X8X16 DVD-RW 22X6X16 DL16X/12X Lightscribe DVD Writer SATA OEM
Additional cards:
I have a Linksys WRT-310 Wireless N router and would like to get a matching adaptor, but don't know which is better: the PCI card or the USB dongle?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
