Need Help with Mounting Brackets

Hi guys,

So I'm putting together an SFF build with the Intel BOXDQ77KB and the Dynatron K199 as the HSF. Unfortunately, the mounting brackets for the K199 block some motherboard components (pics below) on the very ends. I'm thinking of dremeling a small bit off the bracket to accommodate those little components. Still, it would be hard to fit all the underlying chips without completely severing the bracket. Do you guys know what purpose they serve and how much wear something like that could take under pressure? Another option would be to forget the brackets and go with nuts to just fasten it down. What do you guys think I should do?

can you raise the brackets a bit by placing (plastic) washers at the screw holes? or would the screws not reach?

Thanks for responding! Washers are a great idea, but the ones I have have are fairly flat. If I pick up thicker ones to elevate the bracket wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having a bracket (preventing flex)? I mean when it lies flat against the board it's distributing the weight evenly, but I don't think it is when it's suspended. I could be wrong, but thank for the idea I'll try it out before going to the dremel.
