I got a Matrix Orbital LCD in a trade and I am at a point where I dont know what do try.

I have altered the power connection so it is applying 5v to the LCD, my problem is from here It displays two black bars on the screen (no backlight) and that is as far as I can get with it. I have installed LCDTester from Matrix Orbital and LcdStudio but the LCD will not do anything beyond the two bars

Any help?

Yeah definatley go to them. Give them an email, when I emailed them with a question they replyed right away. What better place to go to get the answer then who made them.

that means its getting power, but not a signal. try LCDC as well. make sure you have it connected right, is it serial or parallel?

I purchased a new serial cable today and when I get home I will give it another shot. Is windows going to recognize the LCD or what? does it see it as a device and try to install it?

It took me an annoyingly long amount of time to get my Matrix Orbital to work. Now it works great. I've got it set to have LEDs turn on when I get email, controlling fan speed via MBM, and some other stuff (I got the version with the higher amp rated mulitfunction outputs). I've been fairly pleased so far, but I don't know if it was quite worth the money.

Oh, and I never did get LCDC to work. Ended up using Smartie, which works fine for most things. It doesn't like a couple aspects of my system, apparently has problems reading my harddrive space remaining and some other things.

New serial cable didnt fix it. I have now tried Lcd Tester, Lcd Studio, LCDC, LCD Smartie, and LCD Center... :(

Have you tried changing the contrast? I had some odd problems similar to that and changing the constrast fixed it.

After talking to the MO staff they discovered I was applying 5v instead of the 12v it needed, works great now
