Hey guys well im new to the whole HD tv game and have had my eye on quite a few Tvs that seemed to look really good. However at the end of the day, im really confused as to what to get, every tv has its various contrast ratios, looks and feel. Any suggestions or comments would help me greatly in my purchasing decision.

Well basically what im looking at is something in the "40-47" range. And also this baby will have to look good when hooked up to my HTPC, Xbox 360, and In the future, HD DVR Cable box. Now some of these babys are expensive but its just to get an idea of what im looking for and also dont wanna spend too much if i dont have too. Really leaning towards the Westinghouse as it not only has 1080P but also does great on the wallet.

The main ones im lookin at are the

46" Sony Bravia-http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8179455&st=Sony+Bravia+46&type=product&id=1172881381461

Since these are all available at Best Buy, I would advise you to go and look at all of them in person. For most of us, this will be a long term investment and picture quality should be on top of your list within the price bracket you have chosen. Play with the sets controls and narrow it down to two or three that you can live with, then look at which one has the features you like the most. What I would pick may not be what you would pick for picture quality. Personally I love Sony’s picture but you may not like it at all. The Westinghouse does not have a HDTV tuner and that is a no no.

I would recommend reading up on posts on AVSForum.

Here is a thread on the 47" Westinghouse.

After reading a number of threads, you'll discover that every display has its issues and quirks, and it's all about the ability to adjust around them or if they do not effect you at all for your intended use for the display.

Well, it isn't available from BestBuy, but I just bought a 42" Westinghouse 42W2 from techonweb.com for $1208 shipped. Picture quality and price were my main criteria and Westy came out on top. Having a whole mess of 1080P capable inputs should be useful as well.

Well guys thanks for your help. Well i mean so far i have checked out the bravia, aqous and samsung. So far from what i have noticed the bravia seems to come out on top along with the aqous but those samsungs sure do look amazingly bright and rich with their high contrast ratios.

So pretty much the only sets that leave me guessing are the Lg and Westinghouse sets. From what i have read, there seems to be nothing but good things coming from the westinghouse except maybe a few complaints on brightness and screen tearing issues. Pretty much i need to have everything running in 1080p and I also have no need for a tuner since i will be getting an HD cable box soon.

Well if anyone else can help me out with the Westinghouse as far as brightness and screen tearing issues are concerned, that would be great.
